Say hello to LCBH’s newest interns!

Say hello to LCBH’s newest interns! We’re excited to welcome five interns this summer. They will assist our team with sealing eviction records, pending eviction cases, and researching COVID-19's impact on tenants. Learn more about our Fantastic Five below:

Madeline Alessio
Madeline Alessio (she/her) assists our attorneys with intake and researches evictions that raise fair housing issues related to the COVID-19 pandemic. A rising 3L at University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, Alessio also helps seal eviction records.
“I was incredibly attracted to LCBH’s vision that safe, decent, and affordable housing is a basic human right. I started law school in August 2020, at a time where both the Coronavirus pandemic and housing affordability issues were at crisis-levels. This once-in-a-lifetime experience exposed me to the housing inequality that exists across the United States generally, and Chicago specifically. As I result, I was attracted to the opportunity to work for such a well-respected housing organization. I am the most excited to represent clients in court who need assistance sealing old eviction cases.”

Alexandra Green (she/her), a recent graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, joins LCBH as a Public Interest Law Initiative (PILI) Fellow. As a PILLI fellow, Green works on sealing eviction motions and vacating eviction judgements.
“LCBH stood out to me when I decided to participate in PILI. From personal experience, I know how frustrating it can be to deal with a landlord manipulating or violating the landlord-tenant laws. I'm looking forward to helping those that need support and information about enforcing their tenant's rights.”

Amanda Holme
Amanda Holme (she/her) comes to LCBH after her first year of law school at the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign. Holme works with the Rentervention team as an intern through the University of Illinois’ Racial Justice Practicum.
“I am looking forward to learning more about housing law and helping seal eviction records. So far, I’ve enjoyed meeting the LCBH staff members, and I have appreciated the opportunity to start working with tenants!”

Samantha Jones
Samantha Jones (she/her), a rising 3L from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, joins our team as a graduate assistant/intern. At LCBH, Jones focuses on filing eviction sealing motions, general legal work, and research assignments. She’s also looking into the impact of COVID-19 on tenants at our sealing clinics.
“What brought me to LCBH is my interest in real estate law and fair housing. I am also a student at the UIC Fair Housing Clinic where I am doing much of the same work. Though I am leaning more toward transactional real estate law, fair housing is something that I would like to do in the future even if just as a pro-bono or side work objective.”

Tai Martin
Tai Martin (she/her), a rising 3L at DePaul University College of Law, supports our team as a legal intern. This summer, Martin will work on eviction sealing and pending evictions.
“I'm most excited about being able to help so many clients and to be able to represent them in court. Not many tenants are able to work with attorneys to get the help they need, and I'm excited for the opportunity to fill in the gap.”
