The Law Firm of the Year Award is presented when a firm's pro bono contributions to LCBH or its mission makes a significant impact well into the future.
This year the award is presented to Jones Day, now in the second year of its pro bono partnership with LCBH. Associates and law clerks in the firm’s litigation practice group have handled 12 cases since the partnership was formed in 2013. By pairing up law students and associates into pro bono teams, the Jones Day volunteers are able to effectively advocate on behalf of their clients while developing their litigation skills and building their professional relationships. Their victories include negotiating a cash settlement for a client whose son was injured when the ceiling collapsed in their apartment, successfully arguing a motion to dismiss based on a defective eviction notice, and sealing the record for a tenant who lost her home after her apartment building went into foreclosure.
LCBH would like to thank the following individuals for their dedication and hard work: Morgan Hirst, Jessica Panza, Marron Mahoney, Joseph Florczak, Kathryn Biggart, Marjorie Filice, Jennifer Plagman, Mike Austin, Kyle Baltes, Priyanka Gupta, Jamie Ward, and Ann-Marie Woods.
