LCBH's 37th Annual Benefit
On Thursday, November 2, 2017, LCBH held it's 37th Annual Benefit - Bringing Justice Home.
We celebrated LCBH’s achievements and honored the contributions of our pro bono and community partners. We heard from speakers Representative Will Guzzardi and Tiffany Granville. We presented the Pilsen Alliance with the Barbara Grau Outstanding Housing Advocate Award and Kenneth M. Thomas with the Pro Bono Service Award.
LCBH was started in 1980 in Rogers Park by a small group of lawyers to advocate for renters and address the deteriorating rental housing conditions in their community. Thirty-seven years later, LCBH now serves all of Chicago. In addition to its tenant and building advocacy programs, LCBH now has a social services department that addresses our clients’ non-legal barriers to achieving housing stability. LCBH staff and volunteers serve over 11,000 individuals annually in a continuum of legal and supportive service programs, providing a holistic approach to address the immediate housing crisis and help prevent homelessness.
In this affordable housing crisis, our mission is more relevant than ever: to provide free legal and supportive services for lower income renters while advocating for the rights of all renters until everyone in Chicago has a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home.
Special thanks to Jones Day for hosting the event and to Fig Catering for the fabulous food.
